I’d already heard tell of this: Joan Rivers was out to dinner (supposedly at Le Cirque) on a date with a gentleman who dropped dead at the table… Apparently, all was handled as discreetly as possible, including the check. When Howard Stern inquired as to paying the check before she departed with the departed in an ambulance, Joan responded that she told the restaurant:
I’ll have somebody take care of this… so I left them his shoes and his watch.
