The words inscribed on the base of the Statue of Liberty seem to have been largely forgotten by a good portion of American citizens – seemingly ignoring that we are all in fact immigrants to this country. I first read the story of Jose Gutierrez in the NYTimes. It’s amazing and inspiring – and a stark reminder that people who come to the United States from other countries are only seeking a better life, not a free handout. This evening, Mr. Gutierrez appeared on CBS News… Congratulations, sir – you deserve nothing but success and happiness.
