Not that old chestnut…

I’m sure it’ll surprise no one to learn that I’m a huge fan of Broadway musicals.  And yet, I’ve always had some issues with “Oklahoma!” – mainly stemming from the fact that, despite some incredibly catchy tunes, it’s rather long and kinda dull and weird.  Katie JM Baker’s post on The Awl, which is both spot-on and hilarious, makes a good case for retiring the old gal – yes, it’s a seminal show and paved the way for the some of my all-time favorite musicals…  But really – two-and-a-half hours about who makes the best picnic basket?  That’s a bit much even for me…
